This beginner-friendly painting class introduces students to the energy and freedom of Abstract Expressionism. The session begins with a brief, accessible overview of the movement—highlighting artists such as Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, and Joan Mitchell—followed by a focus on the fundamentals of creating a compelling abstract composition.

Students will learn basic principles such as balance, contrast, movement, layering, and color relationships. Through guided exercises in gesture, mark-making, and intuitive composition, participants will experiment with brushwork, palette knives, and unconventional tools.

By the end of the class, students will complete one finished abstract painting and leave with practical strategies for creating visually engaging work without relying on recognizable imagery.
