Ceramic Critters: Make a Chia Pet!

Get ready to make something weird, wonderful, and wonderfully green! In this 4-week ceramics class, you’ll design and create your very own ceramic chia pet in whatever shape your imagination can dream up—from adorable animals and fantastical creatures to quirky characters and completely unhinged creations.

Over four 2-hour sessions, you’ll learn the basics of handbuilding with clay, including shaping, joining, adding details, and creating a form that can support growing chia sprouts. You’ll have time to develop your idea, build your critter, add personality and texture, and finish it with colorful ceramic undeglazes.

If you finish sculpting your piece in the first 2 weeks, we'll have chia ready to add to your fired piece!

No previous ceramics experience is required—just bring your imagination and a willingness to get a little muddy. All materials and tools are included except for the clay, which is $2/lb. We suggest you attend all 4,…
